Proposed Illawarra offshore renewables zone - Have your say
The Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Illawarra region in New South Wales has been identified by the Australian Government as an area potentially suitable for offshore renewables.
The Department of Climate Change, Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is now inviting feedback on the benefits and effects of future offshore renewable energy projects including offshore wind.
The proposed area extends from Wombarra in the north to Kiama in the south and is at least 10km from the coast. Interested stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the consultation process running until 16 October 2023.

DCCEEW are also holding a number of drop-in and Q&A sessions in the region from Monday 18 September to Thursday 21 September 2023.
