Consultation launched for Bunbury offshore wind zone
The Department of Climate Change, Energy the Environment and Water has begun public consultation on a proposed Bunbury offshore wind zone, off the coast of Western Australia.
The proposed 7,674 square kilometre area stretches from Bunbury to Cape Naturaliste, is at least 20 kilometres from the shore at its closest point and could enable up to 20GW of offshore wind to be developed.
The consultation process provides an opportunity for community members, traditional owners, unions, workers, industry groups, existing marine users, non-government organisations and interested stakeholders to provide feedback on the proposed area.
Submissions will be open from 20 February, 2024 to 3 May, 2024.
The Department is also facilitating a number of open community information sessions 19-21 March 2024. The sessions to be held in Bunbury, Busselton, Harvey and Mandurah provide opportunities for community members to ask questions about offshore wind and provide feedback.
